December SendSpark

Merry Christmas, everyone! Here's a copy of the letter and a picture of the gift that went out this month for our Send Spark initiative!:

Hey!

It’s Madison with Spark the Way! First and foremost, I want to apologize for November’s missing SendSpark. We had our Ignite the Light Gala early November and my brain seemed to stay scattered the rest of that month. However, to make up for it, we’ve doubled December’s! I’ll tell ya about it in a second!

The November SendSpark was going to be centered around nutrition to celebrate Thanksgiving. I know it’s a little late, but some ammo we’ve sent your way is a book called Cancer Killers. It’s written by a guy who was diagnosed with stage 4-brain cancer, but kicked the diagnosis’ butt through changes in his nutrition and fitness. I love this book because it’s full of ways that we can be assisting the chemo or radiation treatment to kill our cancer faster!

As for December SendSpark…We’re in the later end of the holiday season and I don’t know what yours has looked like- have you had to continue treatments or were you able to take a break? Did you get a good or bad progress report? How have you even been feeling throughout this time? I don’t know your answers to any of these questions, but I know that I know that the purpose of December’s letter is to bring you peace and I want to tell you how I know…

So as of yesterday morning, I was 4 days behind on my devotional, but it was all about discerning God's voice through peace. The verse that stuck out to me was John 14:27, so I underlined it and circled it and whatever else. 30 minutes later, I was on my way to work and I opened a present that I got in the mail…

Crazy, right? So as the day continued, I stopped by Aunt Kathi’s to pick up your December Spark that she so kindly made with the kiddos from the DePaul School for Dyslexia in Clearwater, Florida. I picked up the crafts, and to my surprise…well, you’ll see:)

(for the blog reader who didn't receive a SendSpark:

I’ve been reminded of this word so many times this week, so I’m equipping myself and memorizing this Bible verse of peace. I hope you’ll think about doing the same and picking up this ammo of peace for your fight, whether in the midst of treatment, helping someone go through their treatment, or in the battle back to yourself after treatment. Peace is possible in the midst of struggle!

Happy late Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and Happy early 2016, fighter.
We’re all in this together!

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.

I do not give to you as the world gives.

Do not let your hearts be troubled and

do not be afraid.” John 14:27
