DIY Natural Granite and Quartz Cleaner

This natural DIY cleaner packs quiet the cleaning power with just four ingredients and no vinegar. All the vinegar haters rejoice!

This will not only clean but also disinfect your countertops, and is a cost affordable option that is great for keeping your granite and quartz in tiptop shape without all the nasty chemicals and fumes of commercial grade products.

Aside from the hundreds of benefits to your endocrine system, health, lungs and skin one of the things I was very happily surprised by when I started making my own cleaning products was the cost savings. Most commercial grade cleaning products run anywhere from 2-5$ and if you are shopping in the natural and “cleaner” section of the store you are looking at 5-10$ per ONE cleaning product. YIKES, no thank you. The saddest part is, those “cleaner” options you are purchasing really are not all that clean all the time. You really have to do your research. It is scary to trust these companies that are honestly not all that truthful, which is another reason I love making my own because I know exactly what is in the products I am using.

To show you how truly inexpensive this is I am going to break down the cost for you:

  • Rubbing Alcohol: 32 ounces 2.59 (.08 cents per ounce and I used two .16 cents)
  • Unscented Pure Castile Soap: 32 ounces 15.99 (.50 cents per ounce and I used .5 ounces .25 cents)
  • Essential Oils: 2 ounces for 10.89 (5.45 per ounce and I used 10 drops .02 ounces roughly .10 cents per .02 ounces)

That brings you to a grand total of 0.51 cents to 1 dollar per bottle, depending on where you purchase your products.

If that has not convinced you think about it this way. Not only are you exposing yourself to toxic fumes when you spray the product and inhale it, but also when your skin comes into contact long after you have cleaned that surface. Anything you touch the counter with after comes into contact as well. Whether that is little ones hands (which end up in their mouth), food, toys, you name it.

I recommend crisp citrus essential oils or tea tree for its antibacterial and cleaning properties. In addition, I love glass bottles, they not only look nice but also I do not have to worry about sketchy plastic or BPA. These are my favorite

Granite and Quartz DIY Non-Toxic Cleaner:

  • ¼ cup of rubbing alcohol
  • 1 Tablespoon of Castile soap
  • 2 cups of purified water
  • 10 drops of essential oils

Pour all of your ingredients into a glass jar and gently shake.

Happy cleaning friends!

One of my favorite places to shop online for health and wellness supplies is Thrive Market. It is a one stop shop for all the things I need and the prices are great. If you have a Thrive Membership and are not familiar with essential oils, I recommend purchasing from them. They are certified and organic essential oils, which is all you should ever use.
